So, I've been on summer break and have tried my best to expand my horizons. Looking for working opportunities online (since I want to make a little dough while I go back to taking college classes) as well as trying out new hobbies besides drawing and guitar. This transition into adulthood is still a weird experience for me.
This, among other reasons, are why I no longer go on DA daily like before. But don't worry, I will be sticking around for a very long time. With all that said, let me share with you a few game related things online.
An unofficial installment of the Mother/Earthbound series is in the works. Now I've seen a LOT of proposed projects similar to this (unofficial installments and remakes) that seem to come and go without results but this one seems promising. In fact, it is actually supposed to be released Winter 2014 so that's something to look forward to if you are into or even interested in the series like I am.
Now, I wouldn't call myself a huge Megaman fan. I don't dislike the series as whole but I am not "invested" into it like I am with favorites like Sonic, Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, or Metroid. I did very much like the Legends games however (and Capcom, I am still waiting for that third installment, don't make it the new Duke Nukem Forever). Actually, the past two or three years have been pretty bad for the Blue Bomber. Capcom seems to have the series all but shelved with his confirmed appearance in the upcoming Smash Bros. game the only significant acknowledgement of him that doesn't make him look like a joke (I am looking at you Street Fighter X Tekken). But with that said, there is another fangame that has been released recently that I've known about its development for a couple of years. It's called Megaman Unlimited and it looks pretty good. The creator actually is on DA by the way. Not much to say at the moment other than it looks like it is an NES game despite being a new game (much like Megaman 9 and 10). Here is a link if you want to check the game out. megaphilx.com/?page_id=26 I am going to try it out myself sometime.
There is a game in development I found out about during the Sonic Amateur Games Expo (SAGE) last year. SAGE by the way, is an event where developers can showcase Sonic fangames. The game is called Freedom Planet. Despite being on SAGE, it really doesn't seem to be a fangame in the strictest sense. Generally, fangames still have the respective characters and other elements in the game or series it's related to. Freedom Planet on the other hand has its own original characters and settings. It does however, copy some gameplay elements and the main characters are stylized in a similar manner to the modern style of the characters in the Sonic series. Here is the website of the game. freedomplanet.galaxytrail.com/
Now I am not about to go in-depth about Freedom Planet or Mother 4 due to being in-development still and I won't talk about Megaman Unlimited since I have only just downloaded it. I may review it and the others sometime...
Oh yeah, I intend on writing another review. There is this certain relatively recent indie game you may not have heard of that I want to share my feelings about and I haven't done a written review in a while anyway. Keep on the lookout for that.
That's all for now everyone! Have a good one!
